A few words from our founder on Beyond the Dance

Give Back

IAXA Global and our founder are committed to supporting the following areas through their charitable arm The IAXA Foundation:

– The Arts, Education and Entertainment (this includes the performing Arts including music and dance)
– The Under-privileged, the Under-represented and the Disadvantaged
– The Environment and Conservation

If you wish to make a donation along with your ticket purchase we will match your donation up to a total of 10% of net profits form the Festival. Proceeds will be distributed to charitable causes via The IAXA Foundation.

We will invite applications for funding at the end of the festival. We are particularly interested to hear from community based dance projects that embody our permanent areas of focus above and the festival’s themes of fostering social cohesion, conservation and environmental protection. If you would be interested in applying please email info@iaxa.foundation

Our Purpose

It’s all in the name. Diversao.Dance. We are all about Dance of course. We are all about Diversity (of dance forms and people). Diversao is an ancient Latin and more recently Portuguese word that means fun, entertainment, amusement, a diversion, a hobby or pastime. We hope to satisfy your needs in all regards. We are committed to lifelong learning, to quality, to progressing ourselves, our scene and our art form and to doing some good in the world. We aim to foster mutual respect and appreciation across all dance forms and between artists. We believe we can all learn from each other and that creativity and innovation happens at the boundaries and in the space between genres. We also believe it can happen anywhere at anytime. We just hope to be there when it happens. Whether it happens is down to all of you cutting it on the floor. We try to provide the environment, the music and the teaching, the rest is up to you!

So go on! Explore something new. Dance with new people. Test and push your boundaries, experiment with each other and create something new. We have three days, kicking off with our Superstar Social Showcase, progressing with our Deep Dive Day and ending in our Fusion Day and Afterparty Social. Bring the fire!

The name of the festival was picked for a purpose. UnityforthePlanet aims to integrate our twin themes of Social Cohesion and Environmental Protection. The two are intimately interlinked (see below). We believe if you have a platform you should use it. And that if we make small changes in our own world and embody the right spirit that our energy and the ripples out from our activity can affect actual change in the real wider world.

We would ask you all to consider in what way you can embody the spirit of the convention. In many respects it’s simple and will happen naturally. Come and dance with people from different countries and different disciplines. Make new friends. Respect and learn from each other. Operate with love, tolerance, compassion and understanding. The rest will take care of itself.

“… Put down your guns and your wars … bring yourselves and your dance shoes … lets come together, celebrate each other and show the world a better way …”
#UnityforthePlanet

“… Mother Earth is immortal she provides for us all, she gives birth to us and takes us when we die. Respect and love her and she will look after you forever … live fast and young and take more than she can give and she will not die, she will simply give you up …”
#UnityforthePlanet
– For those interested this is a gross paraphrase of the GAIA Hypothesis developed by James Lovelock a distinguished English scientist, environmentalist and futurist.

Social Inclusion Policy

We believe that everybody has the right to dance. We also believe in paying our artists fairly and running a sustainable business. We have tried to make tickets available at a variety of price points. We appreciate that some dancers may still not be able to afford a ticket. We will be releasing a LIMITED number of free tickets closer to the event for those who genuinely cannot afford to pay.

If you would like to be considered for a free ticket on a hardship basis please sign up to the waitlist. Genuine applications only please.

Other ways to participate for free: Join our Ambassador programme or become a Volunteer. If interested email us at info@iaxaglobal.com

Economic status is not the only aspect of social inclusion.

We will not tolerate prejudice of any form whether on the basis of race, sex, age, faith, sexual orientation or identity, disability . Please note as alcohol will be on sale in the evening socials are not available to those under the age of 18.
We will not tolerate stalking or unwanted attention. We will be operating an Ask Angela policy during the festival. If you feel uncomfortable for any reason go to any member of staff and ask for Angela. They will help you out of your situation.
We will not tolerate aggressive behaviour or violence of any sort.
We will not tolerate bad music of any sort [sic].

For serious offences we will “…give you 21 Seconds To Comply …” [sic, song ref] and may ask you to leave for the remainder of the Festival. Extremely serious offences will result in a ban on attending all future events.

Environmental Policy

We are keen to promote environmental sustainability. There a number of easy ways in which you can contribute to environmental protection and would encourage you to do so.

– if you are flying consider paying a small increase to offset your carbon emissions, most airlines allow this at ticket purchase. We are in danger of exceeding the 1.5C temperature increase as a planet by 2029!

– take public transport (we are right by the tube and it operates 24/7 at the weekend) or if you are driving consider giving someone a lift or carpooling.

The Paris Agreement aims to limit global warming to well below 2°C, preferably to 1.5°C, compared to pre-industrial levels. This is deemed necessary to avoid permanent and catastrophic changes to the global climate system. The WMO indicates that there’s a high probability (70%) of the 5-year average warming exceeding 1.5°C between 2025 and 2029.

– do bring a water bottle, there will be free water on site.

  • 1 million sea birds and 100,000 marine mammals are killed by plastic pollution each year. More than 85% of marine litter originates from land-based sources, with plastic being the primary component. The production and recycling of plastic is a significant contributor to carbon emissions.

Environmental destruction and climate change is the single biggest cause of migration, poverty and resource constraints on the planet a major contributor to global conflicts and war.
